Christmas at Grasslands
This festive season, the Grassland Art Gallery came alive with colour and creativity for its special Christmas installation, a project designed to bring the Tambo community together through art. The Tambo Arts Council purchased large canvases and invited local artist Kiralee Sanderson to draw the outlines of Christmas trees and stars, creating a blank festive canvas ready for the imagination of the community.
Residents, local businesses, and the school were encouraged to take part, decorating and painting their canvases in ways that reflected their business, their idea of Christmas, or simply for the joy of creating. The response was overwhelming, with participants embracing the chance to contribute their own unique expression to the gallery’s festive display. The result is a vibrant, colourful celebration of Christmas and community spirit, with each canvas telling its own story.
The exhibition was officially opened on the evening of December 6 during the Tambo Arts Council’s annual Christmas Party. Over fifty people attended, enjoying a wonderful night of camaraderie, creativity, and celebration. Guests enjoyed delicious catering by Mary & Martha’s, while the Committee were able to take a well-deserved break from the kitchen.
The Christmas installation at Grasslands Art Gallery is more than just a display; it is a reflection of Tambo’s strong sense of community and the power of art to bring people together. From children to local business owners, everyone who took part helped transform the gallery into a joyful, colourful space that captures the spirit of the season.
