Seasons: A Celebration of Local Art and Creative Expression
The Seasons exhibition is more than just an art show – it was a vibrant celebration of creativity, storytelling, and community spirit. Every second year, the Tambo Arts Council’s Coordinator, Kiralee Sanderson brings together a diverse group of local artists who explored the theme Seasons through a wide range of mediums and styles.
Artists from the Blackall-Tambo region, both seasoned exhibitors and first-time participants, contributed to the Seasons exhibition with passion and creativity. Together, they have explored the powerful theme of Seasons through an eclectic mix of styles and mediums, transforming the gallery into a vibrant reflection of nature, time, and personal connection.
From delicate eco-dyed fabrics and striking metal sculptures to expressive watercolours and richly layered mixed media, each artwork offered a unique and thoughtful interpretation of the changing seasons.
Each artwork revealed a unique interpretation of seasonal change. Rhondda Scott’s stunning eco-dyed textile works stood out for their organic beauty and layered meaning. As she explained, “My art in all its forms explores the profound connection between our existence as Australians and our landscape, delving into the symbolic power of nature and the seasons.” Her work embodied a deep respect for the natural world, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.
Wendy Keen, who divides her time between Tambo and the Kimberleys, created Autumn Magic, a captivating piece shaped by her exploration of new techniques. “Commencing with lots of different mark making, underwriting and using a variety of tools, glazing over with the autumn tones…the floating in of the boab-bottle trees unites Tambo with the Kimberley region, bringing alive the magical vibe of Autumn,” she said.
For many artists, the theme was deeply personal. Kiralee Sanderson shared, “I paint because I love to be creative,” and her works reflected a playful engagement with colour and form. Stacey Ryrie expressed her artistic passion simply but powerfully: “I paint because it sparks joy and I am obsessed with colour.” Her pieces are a vibrant burst of energy and emotion. Pam Pullos took a more contemplative approach, saying, “The theme ‘Seasons’ challenged me to use the colours of nature to tell the story.” Her work spoke beautifully to the subtle shifts in tone, texture, and time.
Together, the works showcased were a rich, expressive tribute to the seasons and the stories they inspire.
